But since its inception, the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign has been synonymous with the holiday spirit of giving and this year, the campaign is struggling to raise donations.
The goal for this season was to raise $70,000 and the Salvation Army has fallen short. With the holidays coming to a close, the Salvation Army is still needing to raise $40,000. The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettle campaign is vital to the corps’ various holiday programs throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas. From the Angel Tree program to the Teen Santa Project to the Senior Santa program, the funds raised in the red kettles help keep the magic of Christmas alive with special holiday programs, shelter client gifts, transportation home and worship events.
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program provides gifts to almost 300 unprivileged children 12 and under in ×ã½»ÊÓƵ. 45 of those children this year were not picked off the tree. To ensure that every Angel Tree child experiences the magic of Christmas, the Salvation Army spent $4,000 to provided gifts to the 45 children and families who were left behind.
