Campbell stood by his white and black spotted kettle at the North Navarro St. Chick-Fil-A, ringing his bell, holding the door and spreading holiday joy to those who walked by. Campbell and other bell ringers do more than collect donations; they show support and love for their community.
鈥淚t鈥檚 about cheer and about giving those who have had some real struggles become enamored with life and what people will give to help them succeed,鈥 Campbell said. 鈥淚鈥檓 in my second hour [out here] and the reception is always good. We鈥檝e gotten a lot of donations.鈥
The money collected through holiday bell ringing helps improve and save lives of community members across the country. Two hours of time spent standing beside the red kettle as a bell ringer raises approximately $60 in donations, according to The Salvation Army.
