The nocturnal animals and Christmas cheer were on full display at The Texas Zoo all season long starting on December 20 and continuing through December 24. From the beautiful Christmas lights, curated by local vendor 10x Curb Appeal, to the exclusive sight of the zoo鈥檚 most reclusive nocturnal residents, The Texas Zoo offered all of its visitors something to enjoy this festive season.

鈥淲e try not to do what everybody else does in this business,鈥� Bill Baker, Executive Director for the Texas Zoo said. 鈥淓vents like this are a little more special and a little more personal.鈥�

Officially opened in June 1976, The Texas Zoo began in 1957 as the South Texas Zoological Society, which fostered the first animal donated鈥攁n African lioness鈥攖o the mayor of 足交视频 at the time, who promptly decided a zoo was necessary. A long history of fundraising and donations provided the foundation for the Texas Zoo to now house a wide variety of animals and continue to offer families and children the opportunity to learn more and connect with wildlife.

鈥淥n a day to day basis, we try to provide a deeply personal experience that you might not have at other institutions or destinations,鈥� Baker said. 鈥淥urs is more personal and more one on one contact with the visitors and we take the health and safety of our animals very seriously.鈥�

The Texas Zoo was designated as the National Zoo of Texas in 1984 by the 68th Texas Legislature, and is widely recognized as being one of the best managed educational facilities via a team of talented professionals who dedicate themselves to the welfare of the animals and the future of the Texas Zoo.

鈥淲e鈥檝e been very fortunate in that the city gave us $500,000 in ARPA [American Rescue Plan Act] funds for recovery,鈥� Baker said. 鈥淚n the two years I鈥檝e been here [as Executive Director], we鈥檝e renovated the black bear exhibit, the jaguar exhibit, the ocelot exhibit, the train car which is going to be turned into an education station, and our bald eagle exhibit.鈥�

鈥淚t鈥檚 nice to get the kids out during [the] break and see the ducks, which are our favorite exhibit,鈥� the 足交视频n native said, who requested to remain anonymous. 鈥淲e have ducks at home and we still like to see them here. It was fun to see the cats, like the lynx and the bobcats. Get the membership. It鈥檚 fun, it supports the Texas Zoo, and it鈥檚 a great way to connect to nature.鈥�

Christmas Nights at the Texas Zoo delivered holiday ambience and festive spirit in tandem with over 70 species of animals, most of which are native to Texas, while others are only found in remote locations. Many of the wild residents are rescued and can not be returned to the wild or come from owners who could no longer provide care. The Texas Zoo connects people with wildlife from Texas and the rest of the world while advancing conservation through education, recreation, science, and action.
