New Year’s Day is the time to make good intentioned new year’s resolutions, partake in superstitions for good luck and fortune and look forward to all the potential that lies ahead in the year to come. While the gyms will be packed on the first, the eve is a day to celebrate 2024 and tie up loose ends. Get the party started with these events across the crossroads.

EVENTS

New Years Eve Bash with The Drifters

December 31 — doors open at 7 p.m.

×ã½»ÊÓƵ Community Center

For decades, ×ã½»ÊÓƵns met and fell in love at dance halls where local cover band, The Drifters, played some of the best music from artists all over the world. The Drifters of ×ã½»ÊÓƵ have been defining what constitutes a good time on a Saturday night since the 1970s. On New Year’s Eve, the band will be reuniting for one final performance with a New Years Eve Bash at the ×ã½»ÊÓƵ Community Center. Opening for The Drifters will be country band, The Blue Denim Band.

6 p.m. — VIP arrival

6:30 p.m. — Premium arrival

7 p.m. — General Admission — doors open

7 to 8:15 p.m. — The Blue Denim Band performs

8:30 to 12:30 p.m. — The Drifters of ×ã½»ÊÓƵ performs

10:30 p.m. — Prize winners announced

12 a.m. — Ring in the new year

12:30 a.m. — VIP and premium after party breakfast

City of ×ã½»ÊÓƵ New Year’s Eve Blastoff

December 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Riverside Stadium

To close off Bicentennial year, the CIty of ×ã½»ÊÓƵ will be throwing the second new year’s eve blastoff party with live music, inflatables and of course, a dazzling firework show by Half Off Fireworks. Before the grand finale, Adriana Live and Dawson DeBord and Southpaw will be performing and kids can enjoy inflatable activities from A-Plus Party Rentals. Concessions from Ganga’s Eats and Events, Sweeter Than Life Beverages, Dive On In and Trevino’s Concessions will be available.

This free family-fun event will be held at Riverside Stadium from 6 to 9 p.m. but make sure to get there early to grab a seat close up to the action. The firework show will start at 9 p.m. and is sure to close out ×ã½»ÊÓƵ’s year long bicentennial party with a bang.

Inez Community Center New Year’s Party

December 31 starting at 8 p.m.

Inez Community Center

Tickets are $30 per person, kids 12 and under are free

Say goodbye to 2024 and ring in 2025 with a New Year’s Eve Party hosted at the Inez Community Center. With music by Pat Matula and the Lone Star Playboy and special guest, Joel Nava, start the new year off right by dancing the night away to some good ole country music.

Happy Noon Year’s Bash

December 31 from 11 a.m. to 1p.m.

Children’s Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent

Non-members — $5, members free

While most people wait for the metaphorical ball to drop at midnight on New Year’s Eve, little ones have a bed time. But not to worry, kids can still partake in the fun with local noon celebrations. Instead of a ball drop at midnight, kids can enjoy a balloon drop at lunchtime.

Noon Years Eve Party

December 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

×ã½»ÊÓƵ Public Library

With festive activities and glow sticks, the library will be hosting a ball drop event for kids of all ages on Tuesday.

CLOSURES

×ã½»ÊÓƵ Public Library will close early on December 31 at 5 p.m. and will be closed January 1.

All non-emergency city offices will be closed on Wednesday the first as well as the landfill and the composite site.

Riverside Golf Course will be open January 1.

Curbside recycling and yard waste that was scheduled for Wednesday will be picked up instead on Saturday, January 4. As a reminder, yard waste will not be collected December 26-31 to accommodate extra trash pick up.
