AZUSA, California — An 18-year-old Azusa resident, Daniel Rodriguez, has been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Angelina Gonzales, according to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman. The incident allegedly occurred on December 20 at Rodriguez's home in Azusa.

"I want to express my deepest condolences to Angelina Gonzales’s loved ones as they navigate this senseless act of violence and unimaginable grief, especially during this holiday season," stated District Attorney Hochman. Rodriguez faces one count of murder for allegedly stabbing Gonzales, with arraignment set for January 8 at the Pomona Courthouse. Bail has been set at $2,020,000.

If convicted, Rodriguez could face a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison, plus one year determinate. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Brittany Saleeby of the Family Violence Division and is under investigation by the Azusa Police Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau. The charges are allegations, and Rodriguez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
