Citizens Medical Center

Citizens Medical Center.

Citizens Medical Center recently received the Platinum Performance Achievement Award from the NCDR Chest Pain MI ACC Registry. To receive this honor, the hospital had to demonstrate sustained achievements and top-level care for acute myocardial infarctions, commonly referred to as heart attacks.

The National Cardiovascular Data Registry is the American College of Cardiology’s hub for cardiovascular data registries, which measures hospital and private practices’ quality of care. The Chest Pain MI Registry is a risk-adjusted, outcomes-based, quality improvement program for all patients with chest pain.

In U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 edition of Best Hospitals, over 2,000 hospitals, centers and healthcare systems depend on the American College of Cardiology’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry and Accreditation Services.

The accreditation and registries provided by the American College of Cardiology helps patients and caregivers trust the hospitals that participate in the NCDR, get the seal of approval from ACC’s Accreditation and receive recognition for delivering the best cardiovascular patient care.

Citizens Medical Center became one of 28 hospitals in the state of Texas to receive the platinum performance achievement award. Platinum is the highest awarded achievement from the registry.

Citizens Medical Center received the award through participation in the NCDR, engaging in a quality improvement process and using data-backed information to further improve and positively impact outcomes for heart attack patients.

In 2019, the medical center previously received the ACC’s NCDR Chest Pain — MI Registry’s Silver Performance Achievement Award.

The American College of Cardiology’s goal is to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health across the country. In the U.S. cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death.
