The Crossroads region is bracing for cold temperatures expected to blanket the region for the coming week.
Starting on Sunday night, temperatures were projected to go as low as 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures throughout the week are expected to drop to the low 50s and high 40s during the day. During the night, temperatures are projected to reach the low 30s and high 20s, according to the National Weather Service.
In addition to the cold temperatures throughout the week there is a possibility of rain showers on Wednesday and likely rain showers on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
The colder temperatures in the Crossroads come as a large winter storm is making its way throughout the Midwest and East Coast, according to the National Weather Service.
To prepare for the colder temperatures, the ×ã½»ÊÓƵ Office of Emergency Management has partnered with various community organizations to open warming centers at the following locations:
- Our Lady of Sorrows Trinity Hall, Jan. 5 through 11, 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- Salvation Army, Jan. 5 — 11, 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- First United Methodist Church, Jan. 5 -9, 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- Christ the Victor Lutheran Church, Jan. 9 — 11, 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
