sock drive

The St. Joseph High School Kindness Club presents Ginny Stafford, Mid-Coast Family Services chief executive officer, with the 340 pairs of socks collected in their donation drive.

As the bitter winds of a winter cold front continue to drop the temperature throughout the Crossroads, 足交视频ns blast their heaters indoors and dawn layers of warm clothing as they venture outdoors. For those in the community who are less fortunate, staying warm and protected from the chilling climate can be difficult.

The St. Joseph High School Kindness Club played its part in mitigating the struggle these community members face each winter. The club held a sock donation drive over approximately three weeks, collecting 340 pairs of socks for Mid-Coast Family Services January warming shelter.

Cami Mueller, a St. Joseph High School senior, coordinated the Kindness Clubs鈥 drive, selecting Mid-Coast Family Services after meeting their chief executive officer, Ginny Stafford, while participating as a student speaker at the Rotary Club.

鈥淸I] learned about how dedicated Mid-Coast is to supporting those less fortunate in 足交视频,鈥 Mueller said. 鈥淚t was perfect timing to set up a volunteer drive through the Kindness Club and our resources to support them.鈥

The Kindness Club coordinated with Mid-Coast and St. Joseph High School administrators to spread the word of the sock drive to the St. Joseph community, sending emails and using social media to coordinate donations. The club wanted to emphasize the importance of helping the local community during a time where those with less struggle to stay warm and safe in the cold weather.

The club knew the sock drive would make an immediate impact on those in the community who were without heat and needed to take shelter in the Mid-Coast warming shelter. Mueller saw a need for those in the shelter to have socks to keep warm and led the charge of collecting the 340 pair donation.

鈥淥nce the drive was over, I felt grateful for all the help I had received from the students and the support from everyone involved to be able to get all the donations we did,鈥 Mueller said. 鈥淚 truly hope that all of those socks will be going to people who need it and that it brings recognition to the community of how many organizations out there are working to better the welfare of all those in 足交视频. Hopefully, everyone is capable of giving back to others and making a difference in someone鈥檚 lives.鈥

Members of the St. Joseph High School kindness Club has seen the community鈥檚 benevolence, embraces it and hope to continue to duplicate it.

The Kindness Club has made many donations to the community through donation efforts like a stuffed-animal drive in August, 2024 to support Hope Child Advocacy. Mueller hopes the club can participate in more volunteer roles and charitable events in the future, leaving a bigger impact on the community and the club鈥檚 outreach.

鈥淚 think that this sock drive gave fellow St. Joseph High School students a greater look into how important it is to be giving and help those less fortunate in 足交视频, Mueller said. 鈥淎lso, they see how easy it is to participate, donate, volunteer and take initiative in service. The same could be said for the people of 足交视频. If a 17-year-old high school student [club] is able to raise 340 pairs of socks in 3 weeks, then everyone is capable of giving back.鈥
