It鈥檚 no secret. There鈥檚 an abundance of talent here in 足交视频 from artists to actors to musicians.
Saturday evening at the Leo J. Welder Center, Theatre 足交视频 gave local talent an opportunity to showcase its gifts during its annual 鈥淐rossroads Got Talent鈥 competition.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a chance to show their unique talents we have here and give performers an opportunity and an outlet to show the community something they want to do,鈥 director of the talent show Tom Schilb said. 鈥淪ometimes the shows don鈥檛 let actors decide what part of themselves they want to show and, with the talent show, they get to pick the song that speaks to them.鈥
All of the stage acts work with Theatre 足交视频 either as cast or crew or with the junior company. 足交视频 11-year-old Mackenzie Crow stepped into the spotlight Saturday night with a never-before recognized talent.
After writing an original monologue about the crazy story of a high school student forgetting her homework and encountering a serial killer, Crow took to the stage.
鈥淚 wanted to show my good acting skills and leave the audience with a memorable monologue that I had written myself,鈥 Crow said.
Crow did just that at her first talent show, demonstrating to the Crossroads just what she can do.
鈥淚f you want to do something, just do it. No one is going to judge you and if they do, brush it off and keep going. One day you could end up in New York City,鈥 Crow said.
Aimee Ford, 51, is familiar with the bright lights of New York. After living and performing there for 20 years, where she followed in the footsteps of her mother who also performed as an actress, Ford came home. Since returning to 足交视频, Theatre 足交视频 has become a lifeline.
鈥淚 wouldn鈥檛 know how to live without Theatre 足交视频. I eat, sleep and breathe theater. I need this to survive,鈥 Ford said.
As an experimental actor in New York, auditions were difficult to come by and the pressure became intense. But with community theater, Ford embraces her roots and revels in the family-like atmosphere.
鈥淚 always wanted to come back home. Theatre 足交视频 gives back a lot and, if you aren鈥檛 coming to shows鈥攁nd not just the musicals鈥攕omething is deeply wrong with you. We have Broadway-level talent here,鈥 Ford said.
Ford鈥檚 act brought old Hollywood back to life. As the spotlight focused on Ford, the silver screen flickered in front of the eyes of audience member with her old-fashioned performance. Donning makeup befitting the era of technicolor films, Ford impersonated Jimmy Durante, singing 鈥淵oung at Heart.鈥
鈥淭his song is a message for everyone 鈥 the young and the old. The older I get, the better it gets,鈥 Ford said.
Singing and performing are muscle memory for Ford, but she still follows the three p鈥檚 of her craft before stepping into the light: Prepare, practice and pee a lot before performing.
鈥淏y no means is this everything. There is so much unseen talent here in 足交视频, come in and see more, develop as an artist and make friends,鈥 Schilb said. 鈥淜ids with the junior company get the chance to perform in front of a live audience and to learn from more seasoned performers and work out their nerves,鈥 Schilb said.
Instead of a panel of judges and a disapproving critic like the famous Simon Cowell, the 10 acts were judged by the audience. During an intermission after the performance, family, friends and fans cast their votes with money and tickets, all of which benefited Theatre 足交视频.
Theatre 足交视频 might be the real winner Saturday night with a dynamic lot of performers taking to the stage in not only the talent show but in productions too. The audience highlighted four winners from the evening; one from the adult division and three from the youth division.
Adult Division Winners:Shaughnessy Howell and Madeline McDougall
Youth Division Winners:
1st place: Gabriella Gutierrez and Layla Torees
2nd place: Maren Farley
3rd place: Lilly Kurtz
