A tropical depression could form in the western Gulf of Mexico in the next couple of days, according to a National Weather Service bulletin published Sunday.

Meteorologists were monitoring an area of disturbed weather in the Bay of Campeche that had a 50% chance of forming a tropical depression.

Sunday, increased swells and risk of rip currents along the Crossroads coast were possible. There also was a risk of minor coastal flooding.

Skies were forecast to remain clear through the week with highs in the upper 90s.

To the east of that weather system, Hurricane Beryl was expected to impact the Windward Islands early Monday morning as a major hurricane and into the Carribean on Tuesday, nearing the Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week. The hurricane is forecast to intensify quickly.
