A 足交视频 man was indicted Monday on a murder charge accusing him of killing a woman, according to court records.
Fernando Acosta Jr., 28, was indicted by a Matagorda County grand jury. He is accused of killing Amanda Johnson, a 足交视频 mother of two and CrossFit instructor who was found in a burned SUV in Matagorda County in April.
Acosta turned himself in to the Matagorda County Jail on May 21, where he remained Tuesday on a bond of $500,000, according to jail officials.
Murder is a first-degree felony that, if convicted, is punishable by five-99 years in prison, according to the Texas Penal Code. Also, a fine ranging up to $10,000 can be assessed.
Acosta emerged as a person of interest during a 足交视频 Police Department investigation into Johnson鈥檚 disappearance, according to a sworn affidavit from Texas Ranger David Chauvin provided to the 足交视频 Advocate by Matagorda County District Attorney Steven Reis.
Reis said Tuesday the case remained under investigation by authorities and there were no additional suspects at this time.
Next, Reis said, the case will be set for an arraignment on a date yet to be determined.
Shortly after 2 a.m. April 18, two hunters found a burned Ford Explorer, which matched the description of Johnson鈥檚 in her missing person report, with a body inside along a remote county road near Midfield and alerted the Matagorda County Sheriff鈥檚 Office.
The body was identified as Johnson鈥檚 after an autopsy. Her death was ruled a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the head, according to the affidavit.
The indictment accuses Acosta of 鈥渋ntentionally and knowingly鈥 causing the death of Johnson by shooting her.
Acosta retained 足交视频 defense attorney Micah Hatley, according to court records.
Hatley declined to comment about the case鈥檚 details, but he said he is looking forward to both learning more about the case and the chance to present the facts.
鈥淭here is a lot of work to do,鈥 he said Tuesday. 鈥淣o stone will be unturned.鈥
