Any day now, 34-year-old Kelsi Quinn is due to give birth to her first child, a little boy she and her husband will name Kadyn. With her maternity leave planned out and the nursery already decorated, Quinn and her husband, Nick, were only missing one thing鈥� a vehicle.

For a little over a year, Quinn has helped serve others at Mid-Coast Family Services. Now, in her time of need, OnRamp of the Coastal Bend, a non-profit organization, has stepped up and given the soon to be mother a car of her very own.

鈥淭his will make her life exponentially easier,鈥� Advocate and Director of the Women鈥檚 Crisis Center at Mid-Coast Family Services, Wendi Duvall, said.

Quinn and her husband met online through video games in a modern-day romance story. After living in Quinn鈥檚 home state of West Virginia for a time, the married couple moved to 足交视频 in 2023 where Quinn started working at Mid-Coast Family Services.

鈥淚 couldn鈥檛 have found a better place to be, taking care of women and helping them rebuild their independence,鈥� Quinn said.

At the non-profit, Quinn works four days a week in 10-hour shifts. With one car between her and her husband, Quinn is dropped off and picked up from work by her husband, who has a job outside of 足交视频. While the couple has managed for the past year, the need for Quinn to have her own car in town became more apparent.

鈥淎s a woman, it鈥檚 important for me to be independent and take care of my baby without help,鈥� Quinn said.

Duvall鈥檚 first nomination for a vehicle for Quinn was denied. After reapplying months later, Quinn was approved and, on Monday, OnRamp gifted her with a 2013 Toyota Prius.

鈥淜elsi is like another kid to me. I love all my staff, but she just reminds me of myself when I was younger. I wish I had had someone to mentor me,鈥� Duvall said.

As Quinn鈥檚 advocate, Duvall will walk alongside Quinn for the next year and help mentor her spiritual growth.

鈥淎dvocacy is helping people navigate the rough waters of life before they crash into the rocks. Advocates are the lighthouses,鈥� Duvall said.

Duvall insists that the world would be a better place with more personal advocacy like OnRamp鈥檚 advocate program. At the non-profit, advocates must nominate potential recipients and serve as spiritual and financial mentors for up to a year afterwards.

鈥淲e all need to know there鈥檚 something out there bigger than us,鈥� Duvall said.

Quinn has a lot to look forward to in the upcoming year with her first bundle of joy and a newly found independence that will enable her to become the mom she wants to be. Quinn said she is blessed and, in turn, she wants to give back to others and support OnRamp鈥檚 mission of giving transportation to those in need.

鈥淲e need to have more love and support for our fellow human beings. That would make the world a little less scary,鈥� Duvall said.
