Early voting in person for the November 5 general election ends Friday at 7 p.m.聽聽 Until then, voters have until 7 p.m. Wednesday and then from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday to cast an early ballot.聽 After that, the only other opportunity they will have to take part in the election will be election day on Tuesday.

All early voting in person is taking place at the Moore County 1st Street Annex at 310 E. 1st Street in Dumas.

Turnout has been strong so far, according to Moore County Clerk Brenda McKanna, whose office is running the election.聽 Early voting began on October 21 and already by Monday, October 28, she said 2317 people had cast early ballots in person and 176 had sent in ballots by mail.聽 In contrast, in the entire March party primaries, only 2,417 of 9,886 registered voters cast ballots.聽 That included early voting in person, voting by mail, and voting on election day.

McKanna reminds voters that photography within 100 feet of the front door of the polling place is illegal.聽 Also, electioneering within 100 feet of the entrance is against the law as well.聽 Electioneering includes wearing clothes, hats, buttons or other things that promote a candidate, party, or issue on the ballot.

The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail passed on October 25.

Election day on November 5 is less than a week away.聽聽 On that day, voting takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the regular polling places of the seven voting precincts of Moore County.聽 Precinct 101 voters will use the First Street Annex, while Precinct 201 voters will cast their ballots at the Girl鈥檚 Center at 5th and South Maddox.聽 Voters in Precinct 202 have to use Hillcrest Elementary School at 6th and Pear, while Precinct 203 voters must use the polling place at Double Diamond Estates at 110 South Club in Fritch.聽 Voters from Precinct 301 will be in the Moore County Community Building at 16th and South Maddox.聽 Precinct 401 votes at the Sunray City Hall at 405 Main in Sunray, and Precinct 402 voters cast their ballots at Cactus City Hall at 201 South Highway 287 in Cactus.

Voters must bring a picture identification with them to the polling place.
