×ã½»ÊÓƵ County commissioners are expected to take action on two health items at Monday's meeting.
Commissioners are scheduled to vote on hiring a nurse practitioner for the ×ã½»ÊÓƵ County HIV/AIDS Resource Program, or HARP of ×ã½»ÊÓƵ.
According to a memo by Derrick Neal, public health department director, the current medical provider travels four hours from various parts of South Texas to ×ã½»ÊÓƵ County once per month to evaluate HARP clients.
The nurse practitioner would work directly under the current infectious control physician about 15 hours a week starting Jan. 16.
Commissioners are also expected to vote on starting the process of expanding and renovating Citizens Medical Center's emergency department with architecture firm Rawley McCoy & Associates.
The expansion and renovation came at the recommendation of the hospital's board.
If the resolutions are approved, the firm would be the construction manager-at-risk and would work with ×ã½»ÊÓƵ County Judge Ben Zeller and a committee on the construction project.
