SACRAMENTO, California — Authorities have determined a shooting incident on Sutterwoods Way to be a murder-suicide, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to a welfare check call on January 27, 2025, and found two men dead from gunshot wounds.

The incident was reported after a friend of 33-year-old Jesse Janda, of Sacramento, California, contacted authorities when Janda failed to meet him for golf and had not been heard from in days. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Janda and another adult male deceased. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators collected evidence, including two shell casings found next to Janda, who was holding a handgun under his body. Preliminary findings suggest Janda was responsible for the murder-suicide, though the motive remains unclear, stated the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. The identity of the second victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office following their protocols.
